Research

The research committee of TAS is committed to advancing the science of trauma anesthesiology. This committee is led by Dr. Jean-Francois Pettet, the David Hill Chestnut Endowed Professor of Anesthesiology, Vice Chair and Director of Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Future projects will involve single and multicenter clinical studies on the effects of different anesthetics on trauma outcomes.

Dr. Richard Dutton Named as Editor of New Trauma Section of A&A

Dr. Richard Dutton has been chosen by the TAS Board of Directors and IARS to be the editor for the newly created trauma section in Anesthesia & Analgesia! TAS would like to thank him for agreeing to invest his valuable time in this endeavor.

Congratulations to the winners of the TAS Educational Grant 2015

It is our great pleasure to announce the winners of the TAS Educational Grant 2015. We had a tie for first place between the two proposals below:
  • Monica Vavilala (University of Washington) for a mentored summer student project 2015 investigating the relationship between nutritional support and measures of inflammation and anabolism in critically ill trauma patients.
  • Maureen McCunn (University of Maryland) with her pilot cohort study investigating chronic pain needs in patients with orthopedic trauma.
  • Dr. Vavilala and Dr. McCunn, thank you both very much for your hard work advancing the field of trauma anesthesia!
