From the President
Dear Members and Prospects of the Trauma Anesthesiology Society,
I'm extremely honored to address you as the President of the Trauma Anesthesiology Society (TAS). Our Society, as a subspecialty component of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), is dedicated to the advancement of Trauma Anesthesiology through knowledge sharing, excellence in clinical care, curiosity, and research. TAS brings together experts from all disciplines of anesthesiology, transfusion medicine, critical care, and military medicine just to name a few.
I want to extend my deep appreciation for our devoted members, as well as our board of directors. Many of you dedicate hours of your time in committee work, conference presentations, and support of our tripartite mission (clinical care, education, and research). Trauma remains a leading cause of death for adults and children and you are making a difference in the lives of so many people through your efforts to advance the care of the traumatically injured patient.
Our Immediate Past-President, Dr. James Cain, said it best: "Trauma Anesthesiology is inherently multidisciplinary, requiring seamless cooperation with surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, critical care specialists, nurses, and allied health providers. Our collective efforts ensure that trauma patients receive comprehensive and coordinated care, addressing their multifaceted needs with the utmost precision and compassion."
My goal for the society for the 2024-2026 term is to continue to bring a multi-disciplinary group of trauma care providers together to share the science and advances of our individual specialties and drive continuous change on our journey toward saving even more lives that are impacted by traumatic injury. We will strive to lead efforts to promote best practices in pre-hospital care, trauma resuscitation and blood management, diagnosis and treatment of coagulopathy, pain management, and burn care.
In addition, this year will see our specialty’s Trauma Anesthesiology Fellowships grow in their involvement with TAS. We aim to mentor and develop future leaders who will continue to elevate the field of trauma care and make significant contributions to our specialty.
In closing, thank you for entrusting me with the leadership of this incredible society. I have been honored to serve as a board member and officer in TAS. I know that my fellow officers Dr. Meera Gangadharan and Dr. Justin Knittel share my passion for the work that we do together, and with their expertise we will continue to push for our continued growth and success!
Warm regards,
Jason
