How to Break a Mended Heart – A Case Report

Drs. Ojode and Sappenfield share on a case report about a patient who sustained thoracic trauma with multiple rib fractures.  The patient was intubated prior to arrival.  Interestingly enough, when interventional radiology evaluated the arterial bleeding found from the CT angiogram, it was determined that embolization was not an option.  The case raises the point that in patients where a detailed history may be impossible, a high index of suspicion is necessary for quick diagnosis and treatment of injuries.
